Tiger Woods won at The Players Championship for a second time on TPC Sawgrass Sunday, his last win being in 2001. This marks Tiger’s fourth victory of the year and 78th in his career. The last time he won four tournaments by May, he continued his success in four straight majors. Ironically the Players Championship is not a major, although it is often called “The Fifth Major” because it has the highest purse at $9.5 million. Woods score was 13 under par, winning by two strokes. After 16 holes he was tied with Sergio Garcia. Garcia went on to have an epic collapse by quadruple bogeying 17 and double bogeying 18. Woods currently has immense momentum and will attempt to win his 15th major from June 13th-16th at the U.S. Open in Haverford Township, Pennsylvania on the Merion Golf Club’s East course, which has been rated by Golf Digest as one of America’s greatest courses. Look for him to be a heavy favorite to win.
