Beast of the Week is going to take its first ever route in this. I am going to do a conjoined for the first time ever. With that being said, I will go to my first of the two. My first selection is Philip Rivers. Philip Rivers had arguably one of the best games of the past 3 years on Sunday. He posted 419 yards, 3 touchdowns and most importantly, 0 interceptions. So far after two weeks of play, he has 1 turnover and 7 touchdowns in a brand new revamped offense with a group of receivers who are relatively unknown, and he has looked like himself from 2006-2009 when the Chargers won 4 straight AFC West titles.
My Beast of the Week number 2 will have to go to River’s favorite target at the moment, Eddie Royal. Royal had 7 catches on 8 targets for 90 yards and 3 touchdowns, in his best performance since he was a rookie back in 2008. It was a pleasant surprise for a team that was supposed to give up 60 points (according to NFL Network’s own Michael Irving). Royal, who strived under McCoy when he was with Denver, is going to be just the piece San Diego is looking for this year if they want to have a run for the post season.
