The Beast of the Week goes out to the NLCS MVP Michael Wacha and the hero in game 6 of the ALDS, Shane Victorino.
Starting off with Michael Wacha, so far in the 2013 MLB postseason, Wacha is posting a .43 ERA. In 21 innings pitched so far this postseason, Wacha has given up an astonishing 1 earned run. He completely dominated the Dodgers by going 6 2/3 in game 2 with 0 earned runs, and then throwing 7 scoreless innings in the series clinching game 6, which gave him NLCS MVP honors. Look for Wacha to be a big part of the Cardinals in the World Series. I wouldn’t be surprised if they gave him the honors of starting game 2, either.
For my other Beast of the Week, it obviously has got to go to the flying Hawaiian, Shane Victorino. Shane Victorino came up in the 8th inning with the score tied at 2, bases loaded, and after fighting off a couple of pitches, he got a hanging breaking ball, and put it over the monster in left field. This came a game after Big Papi did the same thing, only to right field. Victorino put an exclamation mark on the season the Red Sox have been playing. I would not be surprised if their momentum from the two game winning grand slams carries over into the World Series.
