It is safe to say that Luis Suarez is enjoying his football. The form Suarez is in can be described as red hot. Ever since serving his four match suspension in the beginning of the year, Suarez has not stopped scoring. Many people wrote him off as a contender to win the scoring crown because of his four match ban to start the season. With the likes of world class strikers such as Sergio Aguero and Robin Van Persie in the same league, Suarez’s quest for the scoring crown seemed to be lost before it even began.
But ever since returning from his suspension, Suarez has shot out of the blocks. His 19 goals and five assists in 12 premier league appearances lead the Premier League and no one comes close to him. In the month of December, the Uruguayan striker has found the back of the net 10 times while dishing out 3 assists. His performances have given him the record for most goals in a month in the premier league. Suarez is on pace to break Alan Shearer’s and Andy Cole’s record of 34 goals in a Premier League season.
Perhaps the happiest to reap all the benefits of Suarez’s red hot form is Liverpool and manager Brendan Rodgers. Liverpool is in the mix to win the Premier league title and is looking stronger than they have in previous years. Brendan Rodger’s squad isn’t just a Suarez scoring machine. In the month of December, Liverpool has outscored its opponents 17 goals to three goals. Norwich City fell to Liverpool five goals to one, West Hampton United took a four goal beating, Tottenham (a pre-season title contender) was blanked five goals to zero, and last weekend Cardiff City fell victim to Liverpool three goals to one to take the top of the premier league spot.
Even though Liverpool and Suarez hit a speed bump versus red hot Manchester City, this is still a team and player to keep an eye on.
