2013 World Series Review

There you have it folks. Your 2013 Major League Baseball World Series Champions are the Boston Red Sox. In what was in the makings to be a 7 game series, the Red Sox went into St. Louis and absolutely shocked the sports world by taking 2 out of 3 from them. Remember, this was a team who was 54-27 at home on the year and had the second best record in the MLB behind only the Atlanta Braves.

The main part of the Series was Johnny Gomes hitting a go ahead 3 run shot in game 4 of the Series. At that time, the series was 2-1 in favor of Cardinals. I think that changed the momentum of the whole entire series. The Red Sox didn’t lose a game after that. After Lester dominated game 5, you just knew the series was over. I essentially had this series going 6 if Boston won the WS, and 7 if the Cardinals would have won the WS.

In what was a classic World Series, David Ortiz really did steal the show with how well he played. Ortiz ended up hitting .688/.760/1.188 which is unbelievable. David Ortiz was named the World Series MVP, which was well deserved. Remember, this was a guy who cursed in front of the fans saying “This is our fucking city” after the Boston bombings. At the parade he presumably ran the finish line of the marathon in respect to those who lost their lives and for those got hurt.
